Gracias, Los Angeles

After 6 months in detention, thanks to our amazing sponsors, last November, we had the great privilege of getting married in Los Angeles --surrounded by new friends. Where we come from, the words "Gay" and "Pride" don't ever appear in the same sentence let alone in a public parade or city wide celebration.

Thanks to our wonderful lawyers, volunteers, sponsors, LGBT allies, and total strangers who contributed to our bond, we are working towards creating meaningful, fulfilling and happy lives of service to others.

Service for Service

We are going to donate 5 percent of our earnings from the cleaning services and our Love & Libertad Etsy Store to the Immigration Justice Project (IJP) and Oasis Legal Services who are helping us through this challenging time. IJP is on the front lines in the detention centers every day helping immigrants and asylum seekers understand all the complicated rules of the legal system. It is very complicated. And 90 percent of the people imprisoned there have no access to a lawyer a translator or a teacher to help them understand what's happening to them. Oasis Legal Services are dedicated to helping LGBT people with their asylum cases here and around the world. We are so very grateful to both of these organizations who showed us compassion and love when we most needed it.
